"Andhra Pradesh will leverage IT to attain a position of leadership and excellence in the Information Age to transform itself into a Knowledge Society."1 - Vision for Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government's e-government initiative. "This is a mammoth project which was taken up in 1997, and thanks to modern technology; we started operations within a year. That was a record by itself. Today anybody can walk into any of our offices in the state and get their land registration process completed within minutes. This was the first major step in the e-governance taken up by the state government. With the success of this now we have started computerizing all the state departments and are heading towards a paperless government."2 - J.Satyanarayana, Secretary, Department of IT, GoAP, commenting on the CARD project.
